There are many wonderful things to learn at The Holy Land Experience. From the moment you pass through the gates of our walled city, you become immersed in ancient Jerusalem. The structures and exhibits model the architectural style of the Holy Land, as it was 2,000 years ago. The Great Temple and Plaza, the Jerusalem Model, the Scriptorium Museum, the Qumran Caves, and the Wilderness Tabernacle are all intricately detailed, inside and out, to provide you with a clearer understanding of their biblical significance.
At the grand entrance to the Temple Plaza, you walk under a massive archway and behold the gleaming white stone plaza, surrounding you with thirty Roman columns each crowned with golden capitals. All this grandeur majestically frames the imposing Great Temple. This was the place held in highest reverence among the Jewish people, and we are proud to display a truly breathtaking representation of the Temple that once stood on hallowed Mount Moriah in 1st century Jerusalem. Visit the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus underwent the agony in the garden, and where He was later arrested, the night before His crucifixion.
Watch as our talented production team recounts many of the events that transpired during this pivotal period of human history. Throughout the year, we feature a wide range of live stage productions, ranging from the Old Testament Bible stories to the renowned ministry and miracles of Jesus.
During Easter and Christmas time, the park embraces the joy of the stories we love! From an interactive Bethlehem, a visit to Herod's Palace, live animals in the village, and an encounter with the angel Gabriel, to a peaceful nativity set underneath Christmas lights, guests are immersed in the world of Jesus. Our audiences not only watch the stories, they become part of them. These powerful performances will move your spirit and confront you with the majesty of our Lord!
The Scriptorium Museum is a non-sectarian library and research center that houses the priceless Van Kampen Collection, consisting of several thousand manuscripts, scrolls, and other religious artifacts. The collection is augmented by secondary resources, including the personal library of Eberhard Nestle, a leading 19th century Bible scholar and co-translator of the Nestle-Aland Greek New Testament text. Additionally, specially featured items are on display in our rotating exhibit room, located within the Scriptorium's Ex Libris bookstore.
Be sure not to miss the Jerusalem Model AD 66, the world's largest indoor replica of the "Eternal City", one of the most beloved venues at The Holy Land Experience. It brings New Testament stories to life in a most remarkable way. Almost two years in the making, it's fine detail and beauty of craftsmanship make it a delight to both adult and child. See where Jesus walked, ministered, and performed miracles and healings. Follow Jesus' steps from the Upper Room to Calvary, and then on to the, now empty, garden tomb. Enjoy the historical presentation of this ancient city by one of our knowledgeable lecturers. Admire the hand-crafted, life-like figurines, and feel almost as if you are in the city itself. Questions are encouraged at the end of each memorable presentation.
All this, and more, awaits you at the Holy Land Experience!
